Crash Ensemble announced for Iceland Airwaves Festival 2016

Thursday 4th August, 2016

Crash Ensemble have been announced for Iceland Airwaves Festival 2016.

Crash Ensemble will perform with Bedroom Community label artists, for an extra special collaborative concert to celebrate the label's 10th anniversary, alongside label founders Ben FrostNico Muhly and Valgeir Sigurðsson, the entire Bedroom Community roster and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra on stage at Harpa on the 3rd November.

Airwaves has invited Iceland’s finest record label for a very special event at this year’s festival. The entire collective of composers and musicians from around the world will be joined by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at the Harpa Concert Hall under the Whale Watching Tour banner.

Along with Valgeir, Nico, Ben and the ISO, Daníel Bjarnason, Sam Amidon, Nadia Sirota, Puzzle Muteson, Paul Corley, James McVinnie, Emily Hall, Jodie Landau, and Crash Ensemble will all be joining forces in an evening of music tailored especially for the occasion, and spanning many highlights from the collective's output. Initially designed to showcase the collaborative and contrasting personalities of Bedroom Community, the Whale Watching Tour has been a rare but regular feature since 2010. It's an unusual and ambitious premise where the artists present what is more like a musical conversation with aspects of a show-and-tell than a formal concert.

Crash Ensemble's performances at Iceland Airwaves are supported by Culture Ireland
